CDM Co-ordinator

The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 impose even greater legal duties on Clients from inception to completion of most construction projects. They are aimed at focusing attention, at the project design stage, on the safety of workers involved in construction, demolition, refurbishment and maintenance work, and anyone else 'at work'.

The first duty of the Client is to appoint a competent CDM Co-ordinator if the project is likely to last longer than 30 days on site. The appointment is key to ensuring that the Client understands the arrangement that must be in place to promote competence, co-operation and communication within the project team.

With our wealth of experience in this role since 1995 on both small and major projects, we can add real value to the project in assisting the client and the design team fulfill their legal duties.

Safety Policies and procedures

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and associated regulations describe the requirements for employers and others at work to manage the safety and health of employees, the self-employed and anyone who might be affected by work activities.  It is a legal requirement to have these management arrangements written down if you employ five or more people, whether it's on a farm, construction site, office or factory.

We can provide a complete framework tailored to suit your business activities and management organisation and designed to satisfy all the relevant legal requirements.

We have the acknowledged experience and expertise to provide a Policy and related procedures that will be comprehensive, instructive, easily understood and user-friendly.

Risk Management

For an Employer, regulation 4 of the Management Regulations imposes a requirement to observe the 'principles of prevention'.  This can be simply stated as a hierarchy of risk management solutions.  We have the technical knowledge and experience to help Clients identify health and safety risks in their business and formulate an appropriate management response.

Contractor Support

The organisation of work on a construction site is a complex and demanding activity, sometimes leaving too little time for proper consideration of health and safety.  Every Contractor must be competent to plan, manage and monitor construction work to ensure that it is carried out without risks to health and safety.

We can provide assistance with written procedures and practical support to assist Contractors in fulfilling their duty to plan, manage and monitor the work.

Safety Inspections and audits

The use of a skilled independent third party can bring significant benefits to an operation, even if it just provides an assurance that everything is going right. We have considerable experience in providing both safety inspections and audits not only on construction sites, but in many different work environments.  In short - we will provide answers, not questions.

If things do go wrong, we can provide support for employers with an independent investigation and report into any accident or incident.  We will, as far as practicable, establish the root cause and provide advice on actions to be taken.  Where necessary we can support a legal case as an expert witness.
